We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Public/Protective Services to deliver across Levels 1 (Introduction to Public/Protective Services) through to Level 3 (A-level equivalent). Applicants may have previously served in the Uniformed Public/Protective Services, such as the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Fire and Rescue Service, Ambulance Service, Paramedic Service, Customs and Excise, or Security Services. We also welcome applicants who have worked closely with the public/protective services sector through research, collaboration, or partnership roles. Uniformed Protective Services include the Armed Forces, Police, Fire and Rescue Service, and Custodial Services. Applications are welcomed from individuals who have served in and/or worked closely with these sectors.

This role provides an opportunity to develop as a lecturer in Public/Protective Services, supported by an experienced team of Programme Leaders who oversee provision within the department. Key duties include preparing and delivering engaging lessons for learners, as well as undertaking the associated administration, assessment, and internal verification responsibilities. We actively encourage practical and hands‑on teaching approaches to bring learning to life. You will be able to draw upon your professional knowledge and industry experience to enrich teaching and learning, helping learners develop a strong understanding of the duties, roles, and career opportunities within the Public/Protective Services sector.

Our ideal candidate will have both teaching experience and industry experience within the Armed Forces or another Public/Protective Service. However, we also welcome applications from industry professionals looking to take their first steps into teaching.

  • Salary: £33,595 - £51,931 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience
  • Place of Work: Rhyl
  • Holiday Entitlement: 46 days leave per annum (pro rata). All normally observed public holidays, determined annually. Up to 5 days efficiency closure days per annum, determined annually. Part Time contracts will receive a pro rata entitlement to the above.
  • Working Pattern: 37 hours per week. 835 hours annual teaching time – 24‑26 hours teaching per week. Up to 5 hours per week working off site in agreement with manager.
  • Pension Rights: Teachers Pension Scheme
