To provide personalised, learner‑focused support to young people enrolled on programmes within a post‑16 Further Education setting, helping each individual to develop their confidence, independence and skills so they can reach their full potential. You will work closely with learners to understand their unique strengths, needs and aspirations, supporting them to engage positively with their learning and with college life.

You will play a key role in helping learners navigate their transition into further education, building their self‑esteem, resilience and ability to learn independently. Working alongside tutors and specialist support staff, you will contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and encouraging environment where every learner feels valued, respected and empowered to succeed.

Your support will extend beyond academic development to include social and emotional wellbeing, recognising that each learner’s journey is individual. You will be expected to take a proactive, flexible approach, responding to learners’ changing needs with empathy, patience and initiative, whilst working effectively as part of a supportive team.

You will also engage in ongoing professional development to enhance your ability to provide high‑quality, person‑centred support. All duties will be carried out in line with the College’s Learning Support Assistant guidelines and quality systems, ensuring that support is delivered consistently, professionally and in a way that places the learner at the centre of everything you do.
