Grŵp Llandrillo Menai has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Apprenticeship Coach to join our dedicated team based at the Rhyl campus. This rewarding role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people aged 14–16 who attend college as part of their statutory education programme. As a key member of the Junior Apprenticeship team, you will provide high quality pastoral care, guidance, and mentoring, empowering learners to overcome barriers to learning and achieve successful outcomes. Working closely with curriculum teams, you will help foster a safe, structured, and supportive environment where young learners can thrive both personally and academically.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated pastoral and in-class support to learners enrolled on Junior Apprenticeship Programmes including Construction; Health and Social Care; Creative Industries; and Service Industries.
  • Facilitate personal development activities, enrichment opportunities, active wellbeing sessions, and Personal and Social Education (PSE).
  • This is a specialist role within a compulsory education framework. Learners remain on the roll of their home schools and attend college as part of a statutory programme.
  • The position carries enhanced responsibilities relating to safeguarding, attendance, behaviour management, and learner engagement.
  • Collaborate with curriculum staff, Junior Apprenticeship lecturers, schools, parents/guardians, and the Local Authority to ensure learners receive cohesive, holistic support.
  • The role plays a central part in early intervention, attendance monitoring, behaviour support, personal development delivery, and transition planning.

  • Salary: £29,878 – £32,423 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience
  • Place of Work: Rhyl
  • Holiday Entitlement: 28 days leave per annum, rising to 32 days after 5 full holiday years’ continuous service (01 September to 31 August). All normally observed public holidays, determined annually. Up to 5 days efficiency closure days per annum, determined annually.
