The Construction and Engineering Department at Coleg Meirion Dwyfor is a forward‑thinking department offering courses in a range of disciplines. Teaching and learning take place with access to industry standard equipment and in modern facilities. Within the department, we have two sites – Hafan (Pwllheli) and CaMDA (Dolgellau) – which both deliver Engineering qualifications.

We are looking for a full‑time enthusiastic member of staff to join the Engineering side of the department; who has experience in related fields such as product design, design and technology, physics, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and can upskill our learners within the College. We are interested in applicants transferring from industry, from KS4/5 teaching, or any other suitable professional background. We have an experienced and highly skilled team of engineering lecturers and are seeking a candidate whose knowledge and expertise will complement and add further value to the team.

We currently deliver both Pearson BTEC National and Extended Diploma Level 3 as a two‑year programme along with the Pearson HNC Level 4 General Engineering qualification. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high standards of teaching and learning and give ongoing support, advice and guidance to students that promotes success. We would like to work with you to develop your skills to offer the best experience to learners, and to help move the department forwards. The post is based in Pwllheli, with up to two days per week in Dolgellau.

Key Expectations Of The Role

  • Provide high quality teaching, create effective learning opportunities and enable all learners to achieve to the best of their ability.
  • Provide excellent extracurricular experiences for our learners.
  • Maintain the high standards of the provision with the support given to the learners.
  • Ensure that the Grŵp’s policies and procedures are followed.
  • Support learners to succeed in order to achieve their targets or higher, challenging and stretching our learners.

Job Details

  • Salary: £33,595.87 – £51,931.55 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience.
  • Place of Work: Dolgellau, Pwllheli.
  • Holiday Entitlement: 46 days leave per annum, all normally observed public holidays, determined annually, and up to 5 days efficiency closure days per annum, determined annually.
  • Working Pattern: 37 hours per week, 835 hours annual teaching time – 24 to 26 hours teaching per week; up to 5 hours per week working off site in agreement with manager.
  • Pension Rights: Teachers Pension Scheme.
  • Contract Type: Full Time Permanent.
