We are looking for a Business Development Executive to join our successful Businesswise Team. This is a hybrid role (3 days in the office – Nelson, Lancashire). Fully Remote would be considered for the right candidate.

The Business Development Executive plays a critical role in generating new business opportunities for Businesswise Solutions. This is a high-performance, target-driven position focused on engaging senior decision-makers within medium to large UK organisations to secure qualified appointments for our field sales consultants.

You will be responsible for researching target organisations, initiating outbound conversations, and positioning our services in a compelling and credible manner. Success in this role requires confidence, resilience, commercial awareness, and the ability to operate with a high level of autonomy.

The responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Identify and research prospective client organisations across key target sectors
  • Engage senior-level decision-makers (e.g. Finance Directors, Procurement Heads, Sustainability Leads) via phone, email, and LinkedIn
  • Generate high-quality, qualified appointments for the field sales team
  • Build and manage a consistent pipeline of opportunities
  • Clearly articulate the value of Businesswise Solutions’ services in energy procurement, cost reduction, and sustainability
  • Maintain accurate records of activity and pipeline within CRM (HubSpot)
  • Work collaboratively with marketing and sales teams to align outreach with campaigns and strategic priorities
  • Take ownership of personal performance against targets, demonstrating accountability and initiative
  • Contribute to team feedback loops to continuously improve messaging, targeting, and conversion rates
  • Stay informed on industry trends, energy markets, and sustainability developments.

Read and comply with the company Health & Safety Policy; taking reasonable care for the Health & Safety of themselves and others; co-operate with managers and other employees in fulfilling our objectives and statutory duties.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a B2B sales, business development, or appointment-setting role
  • Proven track record of working towards and achieving targets
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence speaking with senior stakeholders
  • Highly self-motivated with a proactive approach
  • Excellent telephone manner with strong objection-handling ability
  • Strong research and analytical skills to identify high-value opportunities
  • Commercial awareness and ability to understand client challenges quickly
  • Resilience and persistence in a competitive, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team culture
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Desire to learn, develop, and progress within a growing business

Desirable:

  • Experience within energy, utilities, or professional services sectors
