BMA is a leading fast-growing, high-technology company scaling at pace since 2013. Our UK-based AI powerhouse is revolutionising water, wastewater, and energy infrastructure. Our proprietary Decisioâ„¢ Decision Intelligence platform fuses advanced analytics, data science, and cloud power to empower utilities with holistic, rapid decisions; driving circular economy gains, digital twins, and sustainable planning for national resilience.
UK water companies face mounting pressure to transform bioresource operations; tightening permits, net-zero targets, rising sludge volumes, and £multi-billion AMP8 investments that must deliver circular economy outcomes and energy self-sufficiency, all while keeping bills affordable. You will join a BMA team helping utilities turn waste streams into energy, nutrients, and revenue.
As a Value Delivery Consultant at BMA, you will lead the implementation of our Decisioâ„¢ solutions, working at the heart of the UK's Bioresources sector transformation. Taking a whole-systems approach, you'll translate demanding regulations and large, complex datasets into clear, actionable scenarios that balance environmental outcomes, affordability, resilience, and net-zero targets. You'll apply Decisio's AI and digital twin capabilities to model end-to-end bioresource value chains: transport, treatment, resource recovery, energy generation, and disposal, identifying circular economy opportunities and solutions that generate real value.
While initially focused on bioresources, you will have access to broader opportunities across raw water, potable systems, wastewater systems, and energy infrastructure clients as you grow with us.
The role will require you to be part of a rapidly growing company that has a wide-ranging customer base spread across numerous industry verticals in the water, wastewater & energy sectors, amongst others.
- Inform clients' strategic Bioresources Management Plans and Long-Term Delivery Strategies, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, using the Decisioâ„¢ platform.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support bioresources systems planning across operational, tactical, and strategic levels, offering guidance on sludge treatment optimisation, energy recovery, resource recovery, and resilience planning during critical asset unavailability.
- Learn the core technologies used by BMA and become familiar with BMA’s proprietary Decision Intelligence software platform, Decisio™, initially working with the Bioresource Systems Digital Business Twin to build full digital representations of clients’ bioresource systems and operations.
- Gather, transform, and validate data to design. Conduct comprehensive scenario analysis and network design optimisation to enhance system performance, efficiency, and resilience, considering various operational constraints, environmental factors, and the strategic ambitions of the client.
- Participate in all aspects of system development, testing, deployment, and feedback with the overarching objective to further enhance and develop Decisioâ„¢ for the benefit of the Company and its customers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Bioresources/Waste Management, Data Science, Statistical/Decision Sciences, or STEM equivalent.
- Proficiency in advanced analytics and Data Science: statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive modelling, and optimisation algorithms.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, plus familiarity with MS SQL Server, Python, R, linear programming, and optimisation technologies.
- Hands-on experience with sludge treatment processes, anaerobic digestion, biosolids recycling, sludge transport logistics, and production planning within bioresources operations.
- Deep knowledge of bioresource regulatory requirements.
- AI/ML experience: machine learning models, neural networks, or AI-driven decision systems for infrastructure optimisation.
- AI platform familiarity: working with AI-powered planning tools, digital twin platforms, or decision intelligence systems.
- Passion for leveraging technology and quantitative analysis for real-world environmental benefits.
- Commitment to tech-driven sustainability in bioresources and the wider water sector.
- Strong critical and creative thinking with ambition to drive meaningful change.
- Energised by flexible workloads and direct client interaction.
