The Bulmer Brick and Tile Foundation (the Foundation) is a newly registered charitable company, with a vision to become the national centre for learning about the art and craft of traditional brickmaking.
The Foundation was set-up as the result of a National Lottery Heritage Fund project run by the Bulmer Brick and Tile Company (the Company), a family-run brickyard on the Essex-Suffolk border.
It is one of the last traditional makers in the sector still operating, and had been combining the supply of hand-made clay products for repair, conservation and restoration projects, with a secondary function of increasing opportunities for people to engage with endangered heritage brick crafts.
As a result of the funding, the Foundation was set-up to take over and expand on this latter role so that the Company could focus on the commercial production.
The Foundation is seeking an ACA or ACCA qualified Accountant experienced in SORP guidance, Charity Commission filings and Companies House filings.
This will initially involve supporting the finalisation of the charity's financial set-up and separation from the Company, and advising on future strategy.
Following this, the role is intended to largely involve supporting higher level financial operations such as preparing accounts for filing with Companies House and the Charity Commission.
