As a member of the board, you’ll have an important role in contributing towards the future direction of the Fitzrovia Chapel Foundation and our work in maintaining the Grade II* listed building and our charitable activities. We are planning our second and third years of our curator in residence programme as well as other parts of our cultural, historical and wellbeing programme. We have a plan of maintenance projects which keep the building in a superb state since its renovation ten years ago. We are also developing strong local, national and international links with partners in the heritage, architecture and wellbeing sectors.

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. In particular, we would be interested to hear from individuals with skills or experience in:

  • Legal, governance, or risk management
  • Heritage, conservation, or historic buildings
  • Marketing, communications, or audience development
  • Community engagement, culture, or the arts

You do not need prior trustee experience.

What’s Involved:

  • Attending approximately four board meetings per year (usually in London, with hybrid options).
  • Reading board papers and contributing thoughtfully to board discussions.
  • Supporting the charity’s long‑term vision and good governance.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the Chapel.

You will be part of a friendly team of fellow trustees, staff and volunteers, with regular opportunities to socialise. Trustees will be provided with an induction pack and training and development is encouraged.

We welcome and encourage applications from individuals who are under‑represented on charity boards, including disabled people, younger applicants and people from minoritised ethnic backgrounds.

As a trustee with skills, particularly in either legal, governance, or risk management; heritage, conservation, or historic buildings; marketing, communications, or audience development; or community engagement, culture, or the arts, you will help shape our ambitious programme of activities and networks.
