Resurrected Bites is a community-focused organization dedicated to reducing food waste and tackling food poverty. Our mission is to intercept high-quality surplus food and provide it to the community through our community groceries. We are seeking passionate, strategic, and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Trustees to help steer the charity toward a sustainable and impactful future.
Role Purpose
The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Resurrected Bites. Trustees ensure the charity remains solvent, well-run, and delivers the charitable outcomes for which it was established.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Oversight: Set the long-term goals and strategic plan for the charity, ensuring all activities align with our mission to reduce waste and hunger.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensure the charity complies with its governing document, charity law, and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
- Financial Stewardship: Oversee the charity’s financial health, ensuring resources are managed responsibly and used exclusively to further the charity's objects.
- Risk Management: Identify and monitor potential risks to the organization (financial, reputational, or operational) and ensure mitigation strategies are in place.
- Ambassadorship: Act as a champion for Resurrected Bites, promoting our work within the community and building professional networks.

Specific Expertise
Additional requirements for Treasurer:
- Oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures and internal controls are in place and followed.
- Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation.
- Oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits.
- Make fellow board members aware of their financial obligations and take a lead in interpreting financial data to them.
- Regularly report the financial position at board meetings (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance etc.).
- Oversee the production of an annual budget and propose its adoption at the last meeting of the previous financial year.
- Appraising the financial viability of plans, proposals and feasibility studies.
- Lead on appointing and liaising with auditors/an independent examiner.
The Treasurer is expected to have the following qualities:
- Knowledge and experience of current finance practice relevant to voluntary and community organisations.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management (as necessary).
- Good financial analysis skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
Time Commitment
Board Meetings: Attendance at quarterly board meetings (usually held in the daytime). Sub-committees: Participation in specific working groups as required. Preparation: Reviewing board papers and financial reports ahead of quarterly meetings. Total: Approximately 2–6 hours per month.
