About Yada Yada's vision is to see a world with no place for sexual exploitation, where women can live a life free from abuse, stigma and violence. We deliver frontline projects aimed at raising awareness and preventing the sexual exploitation of self-identifying women. We work across Adur, Worthing, Arun and Chichester local authority districts.
We’re looking for a Treasurer who wants to join our friendly and committed Board of Trustees to support and develop the work of Yada.
What will you be doing?
As well as fulfilling the duties of a Trustee, the Treasurer maintains an overview of the organisation's financial affairs. The Treasurer ensures that effective and appropriate financial measures, controls and procedures are put in place and reports to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation. The Treasurer will oversee and lead on our financial plans. Alongside your fellow Trustees, you will also be responsible for the overall governance, administration and strategic direction of the charity, including developing its aims, objectives and goals in accordance with relevant organisation and legal guidelines.
Time commitment
The Board meet in person in Worthing every other meeting. The average time commitment is two to three hours a week.
What are we looking for?
- Essential
- An experienced finance professional.
- Ideally with knowledge of charity finance.
- A strategic thinker with an ability to balance risk and opportunity.
- Clear communicator with the ability to bring the financial information alive to non-finance specialists.
- Willing to play an active role in areas such as forecasting and setting budgets.
- Desirable
- Knowledge of the voluntary sector.
- A qualified accountant.
Yada recognises the value Trustees with lived experience can bring to the Board, in enriching the critical discussion making of the organisation and bringing particular insight to how the charity operates. We therefore encourage/welcome candidates who have lived experience in any way relating to the work of Yada, be that sexual abuse, domestic violence, sex working or sexual exploitation. Induction and training will be provided.
