The Bush Theatre is looking for an experienced, well organised and creative Front of House and Venue Manager to lead our public facing operations focusing on our reception, and house management for our programme of shows and activities, ensuring the best possible welcome for our community of visitors, and realising the potential of our offer to achieve a maximum return for the organisation.
Hours: 35 hours across at least five days per week excluding an hour unpaid break. Regular evening and weekend work, including duty management shifts, will be required as part of this role.
Holidays: 30 days per annum pro rata, inclusive of Bank Holidays
Rising to 31 days after two years’ service
Rising to 32 days after four years’ service
Probation: 1 month during probationary period, 3 months thereafter
Contract type: Permanent
Purpose of the role

The Front of House and Venue Manager will oversee the house management for our programme of shows and activities, ensuring the best possible welcome and highest quality of service for our community of visitors, and realising the potential of our offer to achieve a maximum return for the organisation. Ensuring the team is up to date on all the Bush’s activities, fully trained and they are actively promoting and selling our products.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day‑to‑day reception and front‑of‑house operations for all shows and activities.
- Ensure the best possible welcome and high‑quality service for visitors.
- Manage and train the front‑of‑house staff, maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of all Bush activities.
- Promote and sell tickets and related products to maximise revenue.
- Coordinate duty management shifts, including evening and weekend work.
- Maintain safety, security, and regulatory compliance within the venue.
- Support the broader team in achieving the Bush’s commercial and experiential goals.
Qualifications
- Experienced in front‑of‑house or venue management, preferably within a cultural or entertainment setting.
- Well‑organised, creative and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication, customer‑service and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong leadership ability and team‑management experience.
- Capacity to work regular evenings and weekends, including duty shifts.
