We are looking for a new person to join a team of committed, reliable and motivated individuals to provide support for a young teenager. He lives at home with his family but has his own therapy and lounge area within the house. He is wheelchair dependent, has use of lots of therapy equipment, uses non-verbal methods to communicate to others and is PEG fed using a feed pump. He requires full assistance for personal care and to maintain his safety and wellbeing.
Previous experience working within care is essential, although full training and support will be given. As the client enjoys school during term time, he is at home more in the school holidays and will require someone to be flexible in doing extra hours at this time. Support in travelling with the client and his family for up to 14 or more days is required, travelling will be both in England and to countries abroad throughout the year.
The role will also include medication administration, keeping daily notes, household tasks in the client’s spaces and completing daily therapy programmes.
Hours of work:
- Option 1 – Live in Monday – Friday, working 35 hours between Monday am and Friday pm. Utility bills not included.
- Option 2 – Live in all week round, working 35 hours over 5/6 days including weekend shifts. Utility bills not included.
- Option 3 – Live out, living locally within Hertfordshire, working 35 hours per week.
Please state which option you would like to be considered for in your application. Shifts would be arranged with family but no overnight shifts. Extra hours will be required to cover school holidays, sickness and other support workers' annual leave.
Rates of pay:
- Weekdays £18.00 per hour
- Bank Holiday £20.00 per hour
Applicants will need their own transport to reach the family home (public not suitable) and must have a full driving licence to drive the client’s vehicle. Due to the nature of the work, an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring service is required.
