This role is a 3 month contract opportunity with the goal to evolve into a permanent full-time position, depending on future project opportunities with our clients. Your first project would involve supporting the Department of Health and Aged Care’s Human-Centred Design (HCD) team. Local Peoples is a preferred partner for the Australian Federal Government’s Department of Health and Aged Care’s HCD Centre of Excellence (CoE). Beyond this project, you would be contributing to impactful co-design projects that improve services, policies, and products for communities across Australia.
About the first project: The HCD ICC Project is seeking two experienced Service Designers with a strong foundation in user research to join our team. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in designing human-centred services and solutions to support aged care policies. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure services align with policy intent and user needs. We are looking for candidates with a T-shaped skillset, demonstrating deep expertise in service design and user research, alongside a broad capability across communication, research, change, and strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Design the end-to-end Microsoft 365 journey, ensuring alignment with policy intent and user goals.
- Develop service blueprints that outline systems, roles, processes, and interactions required to deliver services effectively.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and enhance digital transactions, products, and content.
- Conduct user research to identify and validate user pain points and critical needs, contributing to service improvements.
- Explain and advise on design decisions, ensuring transparency and stakeholder alignment.
- Facilitate workshops and discussions to drive meaningful outcomes and service improvements.
- Advocate for best practices in user-centred design (UCD), accessibility, and usability.
Service Design & UX Expertise:
- Ability to develop intuitive, accessible, and user-friendly service experiences.
- Proficiency in applying design thinking principles to service development.
- Strong ability to conduct user research, analyse findings, and translate insights into actionable design improvements.
- Proven experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools and other digital platforms.
- Track record of working in agile project environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex ideas effectively.
- Proficiency in tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
- Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups to visualise user flows and interactions.
- Experience conducting usability testing and iterating based on feedback.
- Ensuring consistency and accessibility across digital products and platforms.
Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications in Service Design, UX Design, Human-Centred Design, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in human-centred design (HCD) and service design.
Residency & Clearance:
- Must be an Australian citizen.
- Hold a current Baseline Clearance due to NPP input.
