The Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) is responsible for the rollout of the Victorian Government’s multi-billion-dollar health capital projects. We’re delivering world-class health facilities across Victoria including new public hospitals and emergency care, community health services, ambulance branches, residential aged care and mental health facilities. VHBA also provides technical support across engineering, property, asset management and environmental sustainability disciplines.

The Opportunity :

The Director, Planning is responsible for the provision of high level advice, support and leadership in the development of project schedules for the various projects and program work packages and for the monitoring of progression of works at all times within the Victorian Health Building Authority.

  • Undertake cost / schedule performance analysis and take responsibility of consolidated project performance reports for the Division.
  • Lead a team of planners / schedulers in a matrix arrangement in a complex delivery environment, provide guidance, support and manage the Authority’s workload with sharing and distributing the work among the team.
  • Advise the Director, Project Controls, Project Directors and Executive Leadership on schedule and performance issues arising from projects and recommend improvements to controls and procedures.

We are looking for :

  • Sound understanding of risks associated with procurement, commercial contracts, project management, and transport services, within the Victorian Government context.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team of risk professionals, promoting a culture that embraces risk management as an integral component of project planning and execution.
  • Demonstrated specialist knowledge of planning management and processes relating to major public healthcare construction including scope, safety, procurement and industry practices.
  • Bachelor (or higher) qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline is mandatory.
