As a Tax Associate in Vialto Partners Global Mobility Tax team, you will play a key role in assisting some of Japan and the world’s most recognisable global organizations with their Australian tax obligations related to the movement of employees across international borders. This role involves providing tax compliance and consulting services to Japanese and Australian multinational organizations and their employees, ensuring adherence to global tax regulations, and optimizing tax strategies for both the company and its mobile employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review Australian individual tax returns for expatriates ensuring accuracy and compliance with local and international tax legislation.
- Manage tax equalisation calculations and hypothetical tax assessments for expatriates.
- Monitor and ensure timely submission of personal tax returns and payments.
- Provide Australian tax advisory services to clients regarding international tax issues including taxation treaties, foreign tax credits, and double taxation relief.
- Advise clients on tax-efficient structuring of employee assignments and compensation packages.
- Assist in the development and implementation of global mobility policies and procedures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients understanding their business needs and providing tailored tax solutions.
- Serve as a point of contact for client inquiries providing prompt and accurate responses.
- Collaborate with clients, HR and payroll departments to gather necessary information for tax compliance.
- Stay updated on global tax regulations, changes in tax laws and industry best practices.
- Conduct research on complex tax issues and provide detailed analysis and recommendations.
- Assist in the development of technical training materials and deliver training sessions to clients and internal teams.
- Work closely with global Vialto team members to coordinate advice and ensure seamless service delivery.
- Support senior team members in large client projects and engagements.
- Participate in team meetings, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Should have working rights for Australia.
- 6 months to 2 years of work experience preferred either in Japan or a Japanese corporate based in Australia.
- Experience in Australian tax preferred with a focus on individual tax compliance and consulting, but not essential.
- Prior experience with global mobility tax issues and international tax regulations is highly regarded, but not essential.
- Native Japanese speaking and writing with good Japanese business language skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
