Paralegal – Family, Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence

We are a well-established law firm seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Paralegal to work across our Family and Litigation departments. This is a varied role that offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both private and public family law, as well as personal injury and clinical negligence claims.

About the Role

In our Family Department, you will assist with a broad range of matters including:

  • Private family law: child arrangement orders, financial proceedings, divorce and injunctions
  • Public family law: care proceedings and pre-proceedings (PLO) work involving local authorities

In our Litigation Department, you will work on both clinical negligence and personal injury claims, including:

  • Assisting in representing Claimants in both fields, as well as occasionally representing them through their families in inquest hearings

Key Responsibilities

Family:

  • Assisting with the production of witness statements
  • Attending court hearings and preparing court attendance notes
  • Liaising with social services in care proceedings and PLO proceedings
  • Assisting in representing clients in both children and financial proceedings in court
  • Assisting with drafting court orders
  • Assisting with the production of pre & post nuptial agreements
  • Applying for legal aid funding for clients by drafting legal aid applications
  • Assisting with the production of briefs to counsel ahead of upcoming hearings

Personal Injury/Clinical Negligence:

  • Assisting with the production of witness statements
  • Reviewing medical records and producing medical chronology
  • Assisting with the production of schedule of losses
  • Reviewing medical experts reports
  • Assisting with triage of potential claims

Skills & Experience

  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) with a client-focused approach in line with our core values
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines
  • A genuine interest in Family Law, Personal Injury, or Clinical Negligence
  • Previous paralegal or legal assistant experience is desirable, but not essential
