At Bury Council we are transforming our housing services. Our vision is to deliver safe and secure homes for our residents that they can be proud to call home, fostering vibrant and united neighbourhoods where tenants are at the heart of our communities. We see housing as an integral part of our council services, supporting residents to lead healthy, fulfilling lives, and central to our wider ambitions for inclusive growth and regeneration.
We are now strengthening our approach to housing compliance and building safety, ensuring our homes are safe, healthy and fully compliant with all statutory and regulatory requirements. Delivering robust assurance for tenants, councillors and partners is fundamental to our transformation journey.
Our new Head of Housing Compliance will be central to this work. You will lead the council’s housing building safety and compliance function, providing expert leadership across key compliance areas including gas, electrical safety, fire, water hygiene, asbestos and lift safety. You will lead a specialist team and oversee significant programmes of cyclical and remedial works, ensuring our homes are not only compliant but demonstrably safe.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping how we operate, promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring high quality data and reporting, and embedding consistent, coordinated approaches to compliance across the service. Working closely with colleagues, tenants, contractors and elected members, you will provide confidence and assurance that our housing stock meets the highest standards of safety and governance.
We are seeking someone who inspires teams and brings credibility, who has experience leading complex services in a housing or property environment, and who has a strong track record of delivering compliance, assurance and high levels of customer confidence. You will be comfortable leading through change, engaging tenants meaningfully and explaining complex safety issues clearly and confidently.
This is a unique opportunity to join us at a key point in Bury’s journey, helping to deliver a housing vision where residents feel safe in their homes and confident in the services provided. We are seeking a values driven individual who believes in the power of what we are trying to achieve.
