Bury Grammar School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly skilled Visiting Music Teacher (Piano Specialist) to join our thriving Music Department on a 1-year self-employed basis from September 2026. This role is ideally suited to a committed and passionate piano specialist who is keen to gain or further develop teaching experience within a high-performing independent school environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Music, the post holder will be responsible for delivering high-quality piano tuition to pupils across the School during two full teaching days per week. The successful candidate will play an active role in supporting the wider musical life of the School, including performances and events where appropriate.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering individual piano lessons to pupils of varying ages and abilities
- Promoting musical progression, confidence and enjoyment
- Communicating effectively with pupils, parents and Music staff regarding progress and expectations
- Liaising with the Music Department in relation to examinations, concerts and events
- Supporting the planning and delivery of performances and other musical activities
- Upholding the School’s policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health & safety
