We are looking to recruit a forward-thinking, experienced Social Care officer with a passion for a strengths-based approach.

About the role

The Social Care Team in the Integrated Neighbourhood Teams consists of Social Care Officers and Social Workers. We are co-located with our health colleagues within the local Community, and we work with the residents of Bury and their carers to promote independence, rights and risks, and empower them to live a positive and fulfilling life. We have a commitment towards staff, ensuring they feel supported in their role. As a result, we have regular team meetings, staff one-to-ones, peer reflective supervision and encourage continuing professional development and training. We focus on how people can be supported by the strengths they have in themselves, their network of support from family, friends and their local communities. Where care and support is required, we work to ensure that this reflects the individual’s assessed needs and strengths, while promoting their independence, choice and control. You will be expected to undertake Social care duties in line with the Care Act and the Mental Capacity Act.

Our commitment to you

A working environment that is supportive and rewarding, where professional curiosity is actively encouraged, while working as part of a team who are passionate about the work they do. Great training and development options for all roles. We have a supportive management team which encourages critical reflection/supervision. Working in partnership with a wide range of professionals from a variety of health and social care backgrounds. Working with partners from across the borough we will support strengths-based, outcome focused interventions. In addition to competitive rates of pay, we offer an excellent benefits package to all of our employees; a generous annual leave, flexible working arrangements and Local Government Pension scheme.

What we want from you

  • Person centred and compassionate, you’ll possess excellent listening skills, be highly organised and a team player.
  • Passionate about social care and working with adults in a strengths-based way to meet their care and support needs in order to live as independently as possible.
  • A good understanding of the legal frameworks relevant to Adult Social Work.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.
