We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Engineering to join our Engineering Service on a temporary six-month contract placement. This placement is ideal for a recent graduate who is looking to gain valuable experience within a local authority setting. You will support the delivery of a range of engineering projects and services, contributing to work that makes a tangible difference to our communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development and delivery of engineering projects
- Support senior engineers with technical assessments, reports, and site inspections
- Contribute to project planning, data analysis, and documentation
- Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and council policies
- Support continuous improvement within the service
About You
- Holds a degree (or is due to graduate) in an engineering discipline (e.g. Civil, Mechanical, Structural or related field)
- Has strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills
- Is able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Is organised, proactive, and keen to learn
- Has a commitment to public service and delivering high-quality outcomes
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.
