About the role

Are you ready to lead one of Greater Manchester's most diverse and exciting Building Control services? Bury Council are seeking an exceptional Head of Building Control to drive innovation and excellence across the borough. As our new Head of Building Control, you'll have the unique opportunity to lead a team of surveyors. You'll oversee high-profile projects, shaping the future of building safety in Bury.

As a key leader in the region, you'll have the opportunity to influence building control policies and practices across the region and beyond. You'll also take charge of safety advisory groups for major sports grounds and events. You'll have the opportunity to foster collaboration in areas such as technical support, dangerous structures out-of-hours rota, and staff training. This role and responsibility offers a unique perspective on the diverse building control in Greater Manchester, from small domestic projects to large-scale urban regeneration.

Who we're looking for:

We are looking for a leader who will bring extensive experience in Building Control, with a strong technical knowledge of building regulations, fire safety, and emerging construction technologies. We're seeking someone with excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of working effectively with elected members, developers, and residents, who thrive working in a fast-paced environment and has a deep commitment to public service and safety. You should have a strategic mindset, driving service improvements and financial sustainability across the borough. We're looking for a dynamic leader ready to take our Building Control service to new heights. This is a rare opportunity to make your mark in one of Greater Manchester's most desirable boroughs, shaping the future of the built environments.

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.
