Job Overview

As a Duty Officer for Bury Leisure, you will be a key operational leader responsible for keeping our facilities running safely, efficiently and brilliantly every day. You will take full shift responsibility for the operation of the facility and lead a diverse frontline team that includes Senior Lifeguards, Lifeguards, Gym Instructors, Swimming Instructors, Housekeeping staff, Concierge staff and Clip and Climb staff. You set the tone for your team, for customers and for the facility itself.

Responsibilities

  • Take full shift responsibility for the operation of the facility
  • Lead and motivate a multidisciplinary frontline team
  • Set the tone and maintain a welcoming, safe environment for customers
  • Make decisions under pressure and inspire others around you
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and its day-to-day application
  • Support the staffed operation of the new Radcliffe Hub and other Bury Leisure facilities

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or team leadership role in a customer-facing environment
  • Excellent customer service skills and a natural ability to connect with and inspire people
  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or commitment to gain within 3 months of appointment
  • Valid First Aid at Work qualification or commitment to gain within 3 months of appointment
  • Valid Pool Plant Operator’s qualification or commitment to gain within 3 months of appointment
  • Solid understanding of health and safety legislation and its day-to-day practical application
