About this Role

Key Responsibilities
- Provide general caretaking duties, including opening and closing the premises, basic maintenance and repairs, waste management, emergency call‑outs, Health and Safety and compliance checks, and cleaning duties.
- Ensure a high standard of cleanliness and security that supports and safeguards the welfare of all persons using the school premises.
- Complete paperwork such as checklists of work completed and record keeping for fire safety logs.
- Manage Health and Safety responsibilities: legionella safety (contractors and routine flushing), fire safety (acting as fire marshal), visual checks of surfaces, play equipment and signage, lighting and electrical fault checks, and COSHH registers.
- Prepare the site safely after frost or snow.
- Other duties: opening and closing the school, portaging, cleaning up bodily fluids, managing waste, routine grounds maintenance, and managing grounds maintenance contractors.
Qualifications & Skills
- Can work independently, identify issues, and remediate them before needing to be asked.
- Practical with minor repairs and capable of keeping accurate records and being accountable for tasks completed.
