We are looking for an Applications Developer to join our digital team and support the council's digital services team. You will be predominantly providing support for the council's Children's and Adult's Care Systems - currently Liquid Logic and Controcc.

You will need to be a highly motivated individual with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges, and you will need a keen interest in technology. You will also help provide maintenance and support for other statutory yet highly varied functions of local government; including Internet and Intranet Web editing, forms creation and business process mapping, and telephony and other social care systems configuration. You will also be helping to support the Solutions Developers to innovate and improve these services.

You will need to be great at working in a team and liaising with other members of the DDaT and the wider council, to ensure that the systems are highly available and efficient. As a result of a full department restructure, we have several new posts and you will be joining an ambitious team. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who work well with their teammates and wider organisation to provide the best possible service for Bury Council.

You will be able to innovate and work through challenges with a positive attitude as we venture into new ways of working and delivering digital services. The role is hybrid based at Town Hall but supporting agile working. Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.

The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. Appointment may be subject to a satisfactory disclosure at the appropriate level under the Disclosure and Barring Service.

In line with safer recruitment, please ensure that your application/CV covers your full employment history and that a reason is noted for any gaps in employment. Successful candidates will be asked to provide relevant references for the past ten years and character references will not be accepted.

As a Corporate Parent, ensure that the work and services you deliver considers our care experienced young people, promotes their life chances, empowers them to influence the policies, services, and decisions that affect them, champions their rights, and ensures they grow up in the best possible way.

We support employees to work with agility, where appropriate for the post and service requirements. We are committed to Bury being an equal society that recognises values and embraces all people, regardless of any difference, for the skills, abilities and experiences they bring into the workforce and the wider community. Therefore we guarantee an interview for disabled people, looked after children/care leavers, armed forces personnel (including reservists and veterans) and carers of adults or disabled children if they meet the essential criteria.

If you require further details about the role, please email Lawrence Cook - l.cook@bury.gov.uk.
