Bury College are welcoming applications for a Lecturer in Foundation Maths on a permanent, full‑time basis. As a lecturer in Foundation Maths, you will ultimately deliver excellent and inclusive teaching and learning in the classroom, ensuring learners are inspired to succeed and progress. We are looking to recruit a passionate, skilled functional maths tutor to our Foundation department, primarily teaching Entry 3 and L1 maths to groups of students who have not gained the grades they need at school and may be disengaged from maths. You will be passionate about young people, inspire them through innovative teaching and positive regard, and support their progression into further study or employment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality, inclusive teaching in Foundation Maths (Entry 3 and Level 1).
  • Plan and deliver lessons that incorporate inspirational curriculum resources such as ILT.
  • Carry out ongoing formative and summative assessment of learners\' work in class and through out‑of‑class activities.
  • Monitor progress, conduct progress reviews and respond to new curriculum developments.
  • Support and mentor disengaged young people, helping them to attend and achieve.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in certification/training.
  • Previous successful teaching experience (or teaching practice for ECTs) within this area or related courses.
  • A full teaching qualification or professional recognition in learning and skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional teaching, motivate and engage learners.
  • Background in inclusive and challenging teaching strategies supporting individual learning needs.
  • Excellent pastoral skills for tutoring role.
  • Knowledge of appropriate curriculum resources for the subject area.
