The Bodleian Libraries is seeking a Legal Deposit Operations Library Assistant to join the Collections & Resource Description (C&RD) team, part of the Collections Management department. C&RD is responsible for collection policy and management, acquisitions of both print and electronic material, cataloguing, serials, legal deposit, e-resources and negotiation/contact with suppliers. It is also responsible for Gold Open Access APC payments and the organisation of the UKRR initiative at Oxford. While subject consultants handle the selection of library materials, C&RD manages the monitoring and reporting of the library materials budget.

As a Library Assistant in Legal Deposit Operations you will assist in all areas of Legal Deposit Operations as required. You will claim where required, receive and process the intake of all printed material types arriving under legal deposit and donation and apply the required pre- and post- cataloguing processes dependent on the identified final location of items. This includes material received from the Agency for the Legal Deposit Libraries (ALDL), direct deposits and British material received as a result of donations. You will work on the transition of print deposit to e-legal-deposit under the guidance of the Legal Deposit Team Leader. This role will involve regular manual handling tasks, such as lifting and moving stock, using trolleys and kick stools. All necessary health and safety training will be provided. This is a permanent, full-time post, working on site 36.5 hours per week. Due to the nature of this role, remote working is not possible.

You will have good organisational skills and be a self-motivated, supportive, enthusiastic and dependable team player. You will have the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to cope with changing situations and to prioritise positively and effectively, is also essential.

As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing and this is reflected in the range of benefits that we offer. More information is available at staff benefits.

Our staff and students come from all over the world, and we proudly promote a friendly and inclusive culture. Diversity is positively encouraged, through diverse groups and champions, as well as a number of family-friendly policies, such as the right to apply for flexible working and support for staff returning from periods of extended absence, for example, shared parental leave.

You will be required to upload your CV and a supporting evidence form using the attached template as part of your online application. The supporting evidence form lists each of the essential and desirable selection criteria, as listed in the job description. Please explain how you meet each one. CVs alone will not be considered.
