Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Criminal Defence Solicitor or Solicitor Advocate to join a respected and expanding Criminal Defence team.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated criminal law professional to join a busy department handling a broad spectrum of criminal matters from police station representation through to trial preparation and advocacy. The role offers significant court exposure, autonomy, and the chance to work alongside highly experienced practitioners in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of criminal defence matters from inception to conclusion.
  • Advise and represent clients at police stations.
  • Conduct advocacy in Magistrates' Courts.
  • Prepare cases for Crown Court proceedings.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, counsel, witnesses, experts, and external agencies.
  • Deliver strategic legal advice and maintain high standards of client care.
  • Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency and SRA requirements.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and success of the criminal law department.

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
  • Proven experience within Criminal Defence Law.
  • Strong advocacy and case management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing a busy caseload.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience preparing and conducting Crown Court work.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • Higher Rights of Audience (Criminal).
  • Duty Solicitor qualification.
  • Police Station Accreditation.
