Who are we looking for?
Burton & South Derbyshire College is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to play a pivotal role managing health and safety across the college estate.
The Health and Safety Manager will be instrumental in overseeing a robust health and safety management system and promoting safe working practices. They will develop and maintain health and safety standards, provide advice and guidance regarding compliance with relevant statutory requirements, legislation and regulations, and promote best practice in accordance with sector and professional standards.
Working with the Head of Facilities, the Health and Safety Manager will lead the development and review of Health & Safety Policies, performing health and safety audits, supporting investigations, managing risk assessments, leading on the college's Health and Safety committee, designing and delivering effective health and safety related training, and preparing and presenting health and safety reports.
The ideal candidate will be IOSH qualified and trained to HSE standards in a minimum of two areas of health and safety regulations, such as manual handling and COSHH etc.
Experience of advising on health and safety in an organisation with a broad risk profile is essential. Experience of writing policies and procedures, protocols, reports, standards and risk assessments is equally important.
Detailed knowledge of health and safety legislation in the UK is also a key requirement.
Applicants should be qualified to, or willing to work towards, Level 2 English and Maths. Evidence of qualifications is required.
