This role sits at the forefront of digital communications, leading the integration of Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), Digital PR, and Search strategy. As Associate Director in the Digital Marketing function at Burson, you will shape how brands are discovered, represented, and trusted across AI‑driven environments. You will act as a strategic advisor to clients, while driving innovation, commercial growth, and cross‑functional collaboration within the agency.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the development and execution of GEO and digital influence strategies for key clients
- Translate complex AI and search concepts into clear, actionable insights
- Advise clients on brand visibility, sentiment, and risk in AI‑generated search results
- Develop and evolve GEO frameworks, tools, and best practices
- Integrate GEO best practices into PR campaigns to secure high quality coverage and citations
- Integrate SEO, content, and PR strategies to maximise search and AI visibility
- Support the upskilling of cross‑functional teams across the fundamentals of GEO
- Support business growth through client development, pitches, and new service offerings
Experience That Contributes To Success
- Experience in GEO, Digital PR and/or SEO is essential
- Strong understanding of SEO and content optimisation principles
- A robust understanding of what good looks like in earned media and digital PR campaigns
- Experience translating data and technical concepts into client‑friendly strategies
- Demonstrated interest or experience in AI, generative search, or emerging technologies
- Track record of developing and pitching innovative client solutions
