About the Role

To manage the Work‑In‑Progress efficiently, ensuring that all costs are billed onto the clients in a timely manner and assisting with any cash collection queries. Work within strict monthly deadlines to maintain a low Work‑In‑Progress balance at all times, ensuring all costs are billed onto the Client as soon as possible. Ensure client budgets are kept up‑to‑date, tracking costs and revenues monthly.

What You'll Do

  • liaise with Account Handlers to produce and finalize invoices to send to the Client.
  • provide ad‑hoc invoicing and project transactional analysis when required by the Client and/or Account Handler.
  • maintain accurate budget / billing tracking for all Clients within the Client Co‑Ordinator's portfolio.
  • keep the Sector Finance Leads (Commercial accountants)/Finance & Business Manager informed of any issues relevant to the smooth running of the Billings function.
  • provide month‑end reports to support the WPP financial process (Unbilled Work In Progress Summary, Credit Note Reconciliation Report).
  • build effective working relationships with Account Handlers and Sector Heads and provide appropriate financial counsel as and when required.

Experience That Contributes To Success

  • Previous billing or financial administration experience, ideally in a marketing, media, or agency environment.
  • Strong IT skills, including MS Office (especially Excel); experience with Maconomy is a plus.
  • Experience managing Work‑in‑Progress (WIP), invoicing cycles, and budget/PO tracking.
  • Ability to work to strict monthly deadlines and handle high‑volume transactional tasks.
  • Strong communication skills for working with Account Handlers and resolving billing queries.
  • Demonstrated commercial awareness and understanding of client financial processes.
  • High attention to detail with strong organisational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across finance and client teams.
