Role Overview
This is a pivotal role within our Business department, contributing to the development of future business leaders and professionals. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, designing engaging curriculum, and supporting students in achieving their full potential. This temporary full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact within a dynamic educational setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and interactive lessons across a range of business subjects such as management, marketing, finance and entrepreneurship.
- Plan, prepare, and develop course materials and assessments aligned with the curriculum and industry standards.
- Support and guide students through their learning journey, providing feedback, pastoral care, and career advice.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievement in line with college policies.
- Collaborate with colleagues and external stakeholders to enhance course content and promote best practices.
- Stay up to date with current developments in business education and industry trends to ensure curriculum relevance.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes, including course reviews and accreditation activities.
- Participate in departmental meetings, staff development, and college events as required.
- Undertake other duties including tutorial support and associated administrative tasks.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons.
- Marketing and promotion of the provision to employers and stakeholders.
Key Person Specification Requirements
- Teacher trained (PGCE, DTLLS or CertEd) or working towards;
- GCSE Grade C (4/5) in English and Maths;
- Degree in relevant subject (or equivalent is desirable);
- Evidence of ongoing professional development;
- Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in work and the learning environment;
- Up-to-date occupational experience;
- Enhanced DBS check.
We welcome applications from Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and from current industry practitioners who do not have a teaching qualification. Anyone joining the College will be part of a Lecturer Development Programme which provides staff with a range of support and training based on previous experience and individual need. The programme will offer a range of support and development opportunities, including inductions related to all College systems and processes, an assigned curriculum mentor and regular 1-2-1 support from the Quality team. Industry experts who do not currently hold a teaching qualification will be supported to complete a L4 Certificate in Education and Training and will have opportunities to complete a L5 Diploma in Education and Training.
