About the Role

Burrow Down Support Services is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Support Worker to join our team at Short Breaks Respite Service. This role is ideal for an established Senior Support Worker or an experienced Support Worker who has previously undertaken acting senior responsibilities and is ready to progress. You will play a key leadership role within the service, supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities and Autism to live as independently as possible while ensuring high standards of care, compliance, and team performance. This is a rewarding position where your leadership, resilience, and experience will directly contribute to positive outcomes for the people we support.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will:

  • Lead by example in delivering care in line with current legislation and best practice.
  • Review and update care plans, ensuring changes are communicated effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.
  • Allocate duties during shifts and monitor completion of tasks.
  • Support the creation of a 4-week rolling rota to meet service user needs.
  • Monitor health and wellbeing, including annual health checks and reporting changes promptly.
  • Lead on medication administration and provide constructive feedback to colleagues.
  • Manage medication stock control, ordering, and safe storage.
  • Coordinate and monitor medical and external appointments.
  • Liaise with GPs, pharmacies, nurses, and external professionals.
  • Support the effective delivery of key worker responsibilities.
  • Promote meaningful activities that support fulfilment and independence.
  • Complete and document staff inductions.
  • Support the Registered Manager in the efficient and cost-effective running of the service.
  • Ensure financial transactions (e.g. bill payments) are recorded accurately.
  • Record incidents accurately and in line with reporting procedures.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience as a Senior Support Worker or Acting Senior.
  • Has experience supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities and Autism.
  • Is confident leading shifts and supervising colleagues.
  • Has experience with medication administration and care planning.
  • Is flexible to work across rota hours including weekends.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
