We are looking to appoint an experienced Building Services Engineer at Associate or Associate Director level to support our Science & Technology sector in the UK, based from either London or Cambridge. The role will see you working closely with the UK Sector Leader and affiliated teams to enable Buro Happold's growth ambition in the sector.

More about the role:
As a senior member of the UK Building Services team, you will provide exceptional technical, commercial and design leadership to projects in the Science & Technology sector. These projects will range from laboratories and cleanrooms, to R&D facilities and advanced manufacturing/industrial plants. Recent examples include Europe's largest vertical commercial life sciences building, the Sir Michael Uren Biomedical Engineering Hub in London, Jack Copland Centre in Edinburgh, and London Institute of Medical Sciences.
In addition, you will also support the discipline leadership in areas such as design excellence, commercial and technical performance, cultivating an environment of continuous learning and actively supporting the development of more junior team members.
Key duties:
- Performing the role of Project Director on Science & Technology projects, with a focus on the London and South East market.
- Acting as one of the key external figureheads for Buro Happold in the Science & Technology sector in the UK.
- Partner closely with the Business Development team and affiliated disciplines (e.g. Laboratory Consulting) to support work-winning activities.
- Being a technical champion for the delivery of high quality, robust and excellent designs in the Science & Technology sector.
- Cultivating and developing key client relationships, effectively contributing to our revenue and work-winning targets.
- Responding to strong local and international drivers for purposeful and sustainable building design - in particular, working with other senior leaders across the practice to drive our low carbon and net zero consultancy service offers in the sector.
- Supporting the London leadership team by playing an active role in retaining and growing an innovative, diverse, happy, thriving, and talented team.
- Maintaining and enhancing outstanding standards for project delivery, commercial management and technical excellence.
- Contributing to active collaboration with our UK and global building services teams.
Your skills and experience:
- Significant experience in building services engineering, with proven track-record in a multidisciplinary project leadership role.
- Experience on highly serviced projects, for example: laboratories, cleanrooms, research & development facilities, advanced manufacturing or industrial plants.
- Ideally you will have a network of clients and collaborators in the UK Science & Technology sector and knowledge of this market.
- Professionally registered with a relevant institution – e.g. CIBSE, IMechE, etc.
