This person can be based in our Bath office on a hybrid working model. At Buro Happold, we're passionate about creating a more sustainable, equitable and resilient world. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, combining technical expertise with collaborative thinking to deliver meaningful impact across the built environment.

As part of our ambitious Future Finance Strategy, we're transforming the way finance supports our global business. We're now looking for a Global Process Lead (Record to Report) to join our growing Finance Shared Services team and play a pivotal role in shaping and standardising finance processes across our international organisation.

About The Role

This is a unique opportunity to help define and embed a global Record to Report (R2R) operating model across Buro Happold's five regions. Working closely with Finance, Business Services and Digital teams, you'll lead the assessment, design, documentation, governance and continuous improvement of end-to-end R2R processes. You'll be instrumental in supporting the evolution of our Finance Shared Services function, ensuring processes are efficient, scalable, controlled and capable of supporting future growth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assess and document current-state R2R processes across multiple regions.
  • Identify process variation, inefficiencies, risks and control gaps.
  • Develop standardised global process documentation and operating standards.
  • Drive process harmonisation and the removal of non-value-added activities.
  • Support the transition of appropriate R2R activities into a Finance Shared Services model.
  • Define process governance, controls, KPIs and service level expectations.
  • Work with stakeholders globally to improve adoption and consistency.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI, workflow tools and process optimisation technologies.
  • Partner with Finance, IT and Digital teams to support future ERP and finance system developments.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for Record to Report processes across the organisation.

About You:

We're looking for someone who combines deep finance process expertise with a passion for continuous improvement. You'll bring:

  • Significant experience in Record to Report, Finance Operations, Financial Control, Shared Services or Global Business Services environments.
  • Strong understanding of month-end close, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, fixed assets and financial controls.
  • Experience designing, documenting and improving finance processes.
  • A track record of delivering process standardisation and transformation initiatives.
  • Experience working within multinational or complex global organisations.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across teams and regions.
  • A collaborative and pragmatic approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.

Desirable Experience

It would be advantageous if you have experience with:

  • Finance transformation or shared services programmes.
  • ERP implementation or finance systems improvement projects.
  • Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Process automation, RPA, AI or workflow technologies.

Qualifications

Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent). Relevant experience may be considered alongside professional qualifications. Additional qualifications in process improvement, project delivery or change management are desirable.
