At Buro Happold, we're looking for a talented Senior Finance Officer to join our growing Finance Shared Services (FSS) team in Bath. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in our Finance transformation journey, supporting the delivery of efficient, scalable, and innovative financial processes across our global business. You'll work within our Record to Report (R2R) function, collaborating with finance teams across the UK, Europe, India, the Middle East, and the US. About The Role

As a Senior Finance Officer within Record to Report, you'll support the delivery of key accounting processes and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial information across the Group. Working closely with the Head of Finance Shared Services and stakeholders across the business, you'll take ownership of core month-end and balance sheet activities, intercompany processes, fixed asset accounting, and general ledger management. Alongside your operational responsibilities, you'll help drive continuous improvement initiatives and support the adoption of automation and AI-enabled solutions across finance processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the delivery of Record to Report activities within Finance Shared Services.
  • Managing intercompany accounting and reconciliation processes across the Group.
  • Leading fixed asset accounting activities.
  • Delivering balance sheet reconciliations and supporting month-end close activities.
  • Managing foreign currency revaluation and reconciliation processes.
  • Overseeing cash allocation and timesheet processes performed by offshore teams.
  • Supporting general ledger accounting activities and maintaining accounting controls.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes through automation, AI and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Working with Finance Systems, Transformation and AI teams to support new solutions and ways of working.

What we're looking for

We're interested in hearing from candidates who bring strong accounting experience together with a collaborative and forward-thinking mindset. You'll ideally have:

  • Experience working within a finance or accounting environment, such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Accounting or Record to Report.
  • An AAT qualification (essential).
  • ACCA, ACA, ICAS, CIMA or equivalent qualification, or be working towards one (desirable).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • A genuine interest in AI, automation and improving finance processes through technology.
  • A proactive, adaptable and team-oriented approach.
