Based from one of our UK offices with flexible hybrid working, you will join a globally connected team delivering innovative air quality solutions for some of the world's most ambitious development projects.

Working alongside our Global Air Quality Lead, you will support the expansion of our services across the Middle East, Africa and other emerging markets. The role offers the opportunity to apply your technical expertise across a diverse portfolio of international masterplanning, infrastructure and environmental assessment projects, helping clients deliver healthier, more sustainable places at a range of scales.

This Role Will Encompass:

  • Delivering air quality services across some of the world's most ambitious development and infrastructure projects.
  • Leading and managing air quality inputs to large-scale masterplanning and urban development schemes.
  • Providing specialist technical expertise to Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA), Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) across the Middle East, Africa and other emerging markets.
  • Contributing to projects spanning a range of sectors including residential, commercial, industrial, energy and mixed-use developments.
  • Working directly with international clients, design teams and collaborators, taking responsibility for project delivery and contributing to the development of innovative air quality solutions that support healthier and more sustainable communities.
  • Playing an important role in the continued evolution of Buro Happold's international air quality services, including contributing to technical innovation, supporting work-winning activities, developing client relationships, mentoring junior team members and helping to expand our presence across both established and emerging international markets.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Experience delivering air quality inputs to major development, infrastructure or masterplanning projects, ideally in international markets.
  • Experience supporting environmental assessments including ESIA, SEA or equivalent processes.
  • Strong technical capability in atmospheric dispersion modelling using ADMS or AERMOD and associate visualisation tools including QGIS.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and communicate findings clearly to clients and project teams.
  • Experience working directly with clients and multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Knowledge of international air quality legislation, policy and best practice.
  • Experience managing project delivery, programmes and budgets.
  • A proactive approach to mentoring and developing junior staff.
  • A collaborative mindset with an interest in business development and work winning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A degree in a relevant discipline and professional membership (or progress towards membership) of IAQM or an equivalent professional body.

Desirable:

  • Experience of IFC, EBRD or other lender standards.
  • Experience in indoor air quality, LEED, WELL or Envision.
  • Experience of odour, dust or ecological assessments.
  • Experience contributing to regional plans, policies or frameworks.

What we offer you:

  • Hybrid working arrangements.
  • Car allowance (10% of basic salary).
  • Attractive salary.
  • Discretionary bonus.
  • Holiday entitlement of 25 days per annum (exclusive of bank holidays) and flexible holiday arrangements.
  • Generous company pension scheme, life assurance and income protection.
  • Flexible benefits including cycle scheme, dental insurance, optical cover, travel insurance, season ticket loans, and corporate discounts.
  • Enhanced parental leave policies.
  • A strong commitment to continuous development.
  • Entitlement to two memberships to professional bodies or subscriptions.
  • A commitment to your wellbeing through a comprehensive employee assistance programme and wellbeing activities.
  • An opportunity to support your local community and those in society that are most in need through our Share Our Skills (SOS) programme.
  • A supportive and inclusive environment that will welcome you through social and outreach activities.
  • An international culture that wherever your career takes you at Buro Happold, you won't be far from exceptional.

We welcome applications from those who are seeking flexibility in their careers.
