We are looking for an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join our Transport and Mobility team to work on a diverse range of projects that cover regeneration, urban development, highways and mobility infrastructure planning and design, and sustainable and active travel projects. The role will be based from either our Bath, London, Leeds or Manchester offices with hybrid working.

Our growing and diverse team undertakes a variety of consultancy work from developing sustainable transport strategies to delivering transport masterplans, in the UK and globally. We are looking for transport and mobility planners, urban planners, highway / streetscape designers, and active travel specialists who want to make a difference. Our transport team works on a variety of exciting projects worldwide, often as part of in‑house multi‑disciplinary teams, ranging from strategic masterplanning to development at the plot scale and everything mobility related in between.
Some recent projects include the expansion of the All‑England Lawn Tennis Club (Wimbledon), Canning Town Regeneration masterplan, White City Living masterplan, Mayfield (Manchester), Al Jazira Stadium (Abu Dhabi), and a mixed‑use masterplan for Praderas in Chile. With a strong pipeline of future work, we plan to continue expanding the team and capitalizing on Buro Happold’s transport offerings.
Required Skills- Experience in transport and mobility planning and design, and transport data analysis
- Able to prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations and visualise and articulate complex problems
- Communication skills with the ability to present work to both internal and external stakeholders, leading inputs to design team meetings, pre‑application meetings and consultation events
- Creative, innovative mind‑set, lateral thinker
- Understanding of development planning principles and exposure to integrated design within masterplanning
- Ability to challenge conventional thinking and look towards future mobility
- Project management experience managing clients, budgets and internal and external resources
- Passion for smart and sustainable solutions
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills and ability to use required computer software tools
- Experience in working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team
- Experience in AutoCAD, GIS, traffic modelling software, Adobe packages (Illustrator and InDesign)
- Contribute to the production and delivery of proposals and business development
- Take part in personal training to develop skills and train other staff on‑the‑job
- Experience of working on international projects and flexibility to travel
