Buro Happold is recruiting an Information Manager to lead the strategic development, implementation, and oversight of information management processes and systems in line with industry standards, including ISO 19650. The position is based in London (also supporting our Infrastructure team in India) and is critical to ensuring that project information is accurate, accessible, and secure throughout the entire project lifecycle and beyond.

Key Duties

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the firm's information management strategy and procedures, aligned with ISO 19650 and other relevant industry best practices.
  • Establish and manage Common Data Environments (CDEs) for projects, defining workflows, access permissions, and quality‐control protocols for information exchange.
  • Ensure that project teams adhere to defined information standards, protocols, and quality‐control measures.
  • Oversee the coordination and management of digital information deliverables, including models, drawings, documents, and data, throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Implement and manage processes for the creation, review, approval, and archiving of project information within the CDE.
  • Provide expertise and support to project teams on information‐management best practices, ISO 19650 compliance, and the effective use of relevant software.
  • Manage and optimise the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for spatial data management, analysis, and visualisation in civil engineering contexts.
  • Support project teams in the effective utilisation of Civil 3D for the creation and management of intelligent design data and deliverables.
  • Utilise FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) for data transformation, validation, and integration between various software platforms and data sources.
  • Develop and deliver training programmes on information‐management procedures, CDE usage, and relevant software applications.
  • Conduct regular audits of project information to ensure compliance with standards, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Liaise with clients and external stakeholders regarding information requirements and exchange protocols.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Information Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in information management within a civil engineering or AEC environment.
  • In‐depth knowledge and practical experience implementing ISO 19650 standards.
  • Experience administering and managing Common Data Environments (CDEs).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Experience with FME for data transformation and integration.
  • Excellent understanding of data structures, metadata, and information‐classification systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Post‐graduate qualification in Information Management, BIM, or a related field, and certification in ISO 19650 are preferred but not essential.
