Your next role: This role will see you playing a key leadership role in the team, supporting the Discipline Leader across project leadership, business development, people management, and strategy. You will also work closely with our technology experts from across the practice involving specialisms such as digital strategy, experience analysts, smart buildings, smart cities, digital twins, digital infrastructure and data analytics.

Key Duties:

  • Leading project delivery on behalf of the technology discipline, supporting the delivery teams with project engagement and representing technical authority for final review and sign-off.
  • Take an active role in helping to promote the discipline and engage with senior management in supporting the development of the discipline strategy.
  • Supporting the Discipline leader in actively seeking out new clients and workstreams, as well as seeking to cross-sell other Buro Happold services.
  • Consulting with clients, collaborators and stakeholders to capture requirements and probe into the desired project outcomes.
  • Communicating with clients to support them in developing their aspirations and ideas to help tailor solutions bespoke to each project, that consider up to date technology and harness the benefits of integration with other services and disciplines.
  • Input into consultative work – will require a good understanding of key business drivers for digital technology and its implementation, and the ability to support clients in developing visions, briefs and strategies for subsequent design work.
  • Manage and respond to bid development requests preparing market capability information, roadmaps and budgets taking into account a variety of factors.
  • Understanding and advocating smart building and cities technologies; developing strategies that support the aspirations of the client's development.
  • Monitoring yours and others use of project finances; effectively managing time and resource within your team.
  • Mentorship and line management of more junior staff.
  • Assisting Discipline leader in monitoring and developing knowledge management, training and team support collateral.

You will be an expert in helping clients embrace and leverage technology in the built environment, adept at applying your skills at city master planning through to building fit-outs, working with clients and collaborators at the beginning of their digital transformations through to supervising contractors in delivery of solutions. You will be a confident leader of people and practiced at all elements of ICT infrastructure delivery from bid, all the way through to handover and post occupancy review.

Further requirements include:

  • Significant extensive experience in a Technology role focused on the built environment.
  • Experience leading the development of technology infrastructures (e.g., Smart Building Technology, Passive ICT infrastructure, Structured Cabling, Wireless Networks, IoT, etc) from brief through to specification and tender support.
  • Previous evidence of project leadership and end-client interaction.
  • Experience in the business development process ideally combined with an existing network of clients.
  • Relevant industrial qualifications and a desire to pursue professional registration with a relevant body.
  • Expertise in a specific field of information technology is important, ideally accompanied by design experience.
