Join our fire engineering team on a hybrid role based in London, Leeds, Manchester, Bath, or Edinburgh. We work across the UK, Dubai, and Riyadh, delivering global fire engineering expertise to projects worldwide.
Key Duties
- Lead fire engineering projects, supporting design aspirations, functionality and architecture throughout development.
- Provide client care and consultancy on projects.
- Manage the financial performance of projects, including invoicing and monitoring.
- Represent Buro Happold Fire Engineering at design team meetings, both internal and external.
- Identify and specify appropriate fixed fire protection systems, including detection and suppression.
- Carry out and review fire engineering calculations – smoke modelling and evacuation analysis from hand calculations to 3‑D CFD (previous CFD experience welcome but not essential).
- Support development of junior team members, as mentor or line manager.
Qualifications
- Experience leading fire engineering on major projects.
- Higher education qualification in engineering or a fire safety related subject.
- Demonstrable experience delivering fire and life safety designs for UK projects.
- Track record of obtaining agreement for prescriptive and performance‑based solutions from approving authorities.
- Strong people‑management skills; experience in a line‑management context.
- Excellent commercial and project‑management skills.
