We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Finance Business Partner to join our UK+ Finance team on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract. At Buro Happold, you’ll be part of a collaborative and innovative environment where finance plays a key role in driving project success and business performance.
About the Role
As an Assistant Finance Business Partner, you will support the delivery of high‑quality financial insights and reporting across a range of projects. This role combines both management accounting and financial support, offering excellent exposure to project finance within a professional services environment. You will work closely with Finance Business Partners, Project Directors and operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and support decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of monthly project and management accounts.
- Assist with annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes.
- Help monitor project performance, including revenue, costs and provisions.
- Collaborate with the Project Operations Team to support project delivery.
- Contribute to financial reporting and monthly commentary for project leadership teams.
- Support project approvals, closures, and governance processes.
- Assist with journal postings, invoicing and month‑end activities.
- Liaise with regional and group finance teams to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Produce ad hoc analysis, reports and presentations as required.
About You
- Strong communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with financial systems.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proactive, collaborative and able to use initiative.
- Previous experience in a similar finance role, ideally supporting management accounts and month‑end processes.
Desirable
- Experience within professional services, engineering or construction sectors.
- Familiarity with systems such as Agresso or Deltek Vantagepoint.
- AAT qualification (or working towards) or equivalent experience.
