We are looking for a talented Façade Engineer to lead and grow our Façade Engineering team in the North of England, based in either Manchester or Leeds. Through this senior leadership role you will strengthen Buro Happold’s regional presence outside London, deepen client engagement, and actively drive sustainable growth in one of the firm’s key growth regions.

As Regional Lead you will work in close partnership with the UK Facades Discipline Leader, UK regional leadership, sector leaders and other technical disciplines to convert opportunities into secured work, deliver technical excellence, and build a high‑performing regional team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a visible senior façade engineering leader in the North of England, representing Buro Happold with clients, collaborators and the wider industry.
  • Grow the façade engineering business across the North of England in line with UK and global Facades strategies.
  • Strengthen technical leadership, project delivery oversight and consistency of quality across regional projects.
  • Build, lead and develop a sustainable regional team, aligned with projected workload and long‑term succession planning.
  • Oversee pastoral and HR matters and lead recruitment and retention strategy for the Northern Façade business.
  • Enhance collaboration and knowledge‑sharing between London, the North and other UK and global offices.
  • Deliver own a portfolio of projects at Project Director level.

Qualifications

  • Highly experienced façade engineering professional with a strong track record of delivering high‑quality façade consultancy projects.
  • Recognised technical and commercial leader, with experience working on complex and/or large‑scale projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in business development, client relationship management and work winning within the UK market.
  • Strong people leader, with experience building, mentoring and managing teams.
  • Well networked within the industry, with established relationships across architects, developers, contractors and specialist contractors.
  • Comfortable operating in a senior leadership role, balancing strategic, commercial, technical and people responsibilities.
  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Professionally registered and a member of a relevant institution.
