Buro Happold is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Environments team in Cambridge. The role involves leading MEP projects in Cambridge and beyond, including Higher Education buildings, research facilities, mixed-use developments, and refurbishments, including heritage buildings.
Responsibilities
- Undertake detailed mechanical engineering building services design and calculations, using Revit and IES software to support knowledge of exemplar building design and performance, including embodied carbon awareness.
- Embrace technologies to improve performance and sustainability to meet net zero targets by 2030.
- Ensure projects are carried out to an excellent standard, within agreed deadlines and budget.
- Represent Buro Happold at meetings with clients, other professionals, and suppliers.
- Produce and review reports, presentations, models, and drawings to a high standard, with accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare technical specifications and schedules, design development reports and innovative design solutions.
- Plan and manage input to Revit for production of design work.
- Actively engage with colleagues across disciplines, in group discussions and at events and seminars.
- Mentor more junior team members, potentially leading to an early line management role.
- Autonomously represent Buro Happold to clients, architects and collaborators.
Skills and Experience / Qualifications
- Relevant building services experience or credentials for delivering highly sustainable buildings.
- Experience as a Lead Mechanical Engineer on projects.
- Broad design knowledge across a range of projects.
- Experience using Revit and IES; willingness to learn new analysis packages.
- Working towards, or a Chartered Member of CIBSE or equivalent body.
