Are you a Civil Infrastructure Engineer looking to grow your technical and operational expertise across the world? Buro Happold is looking to recruit a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infrastructure Group in our Bath office, with a particular focus on potable water design.
Key Duties
- Water System Design and Delivery: Develop potable water, wastewater, surface water and recycled water network designs from concept to detailed design. Produce technical strategies, calculations, reports and coordinated design outputs in line with UK and international standards. Support digital delivery and application of modelling tools across network planning and optimisation.
- International Masterplanning: Contribute to large‑scale new city and district masterplans, shaping water system concepts and strategies for major international developments. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to integrate water networks with energy, transport, landscape and urban design components. Help define sustainable, resilient and efficient water infrastructure for new communities at regional scale.
- UK Project Leadership and Delivery: Lead and deliver water and infrastructure projects within the UK market, managing scope, deliverables and coordination with wider teams. Engage with clients, stakeholders and project partners to ensure clarity of brief, technical quality and smooth delivery. Maintain awareness of regulatory requirements, planning processes and best practice relevant to UK water and infrastructure projects.
- Team Collaboration and Development: Work closely with UK and overseas technical teams, fostering shared workflows, skills transfer and collaborative delivery. Support junior colleagues through guidance, reviews and knowledge sharing. Contribute to internal development of tools, standards and ways of working.
Your Skills and Experience
- Strong background in water system engineering, including planning and design of potable, wastewater, surface water and recycled water networks.
- Experience working across concept, preliminary and detailed design stages, ideally within multidisciplinary teams.
- Understanding of sustainable water management, digital delivery methods, hydraulic modelling or network optimisation tools.
- Ability to operate confidently in client‑facing roles, communicate technical information clearly and manage deliverables.
- Interest in or experience with international masterplanning, major urban development projects or complex multi‑stakeholder environments.
- Knowledge of UK design standards, water sector regulations and planning processes.
- A collaborative, proactive approach with enthusiasm for working across global teams and contributing to both strategic city‑scale planning and local UK project delivery.
