About The Role:
As a Building Performance Engineer, you will help drive performance-led design across a diverse portfolio of new and existing buildings, working with internationally renowned architects, developers and public bodies. Youâll contribute to projects ranging from BREEAM Outstanding and NABERS commercial developments to the decarbonisation of complex estates. You will work closely with senior colleagues while increasingly taking ownership of specific work packages, supporting project delivery, and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver the full spectrum of building performance and sustainability work, including:
- Leading and supporting net zero carbon building design.
- Producing and reviewing energy models to inform building services and architectural decisions.
- Conducting advanced HVAC and whole-building simulations.
- Carrying out thermal comfort, overheating, and daylighting analysis.
- Supporting façade optimisation and parametric modelling.
- Assessing renewable and lowâcarbon technologies.
- Completing embodied and whole life carbon assessments.
- Developing decarbonisation strategies for existing buildings.
- Supporting energy audits and postâoccupancy evaluations.
- Preparing highâquality reports, presentations, and technical outputs.
- Presenting work to clients and design teams (with support where needed).
At this level, you will also:
- Take responsibility for smaller projects or defined work packages.
- Contribute to programmes, planning, and budget tracking.
- Support bids, competitions, and fee proposals.
- Mentor and support junior colleagues.
- Contract Execution & Signature Management.
What We Are Looking For:

Qualifications & Experience
- A STEMâbased degree (e.g. Architectural Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Physics).
- At least 2 yearsâ experience in building performance, sustainability, or building services engineering.
Essential Skills
- Confident written, graphical, and verbal communication.
- Experience delivering building performance analysis independently.
- Strong collaborative approach within multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage your own workload and deadlines.
- Demonstrable commitment to highâperformance, lowâcarbon design.
- Understanding of QA processes and technical accuracy.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of building services systems and controls.
- Experience with simulation tools (e.g. IESVE, EnergyPlus).
- Familiarity with Rhino/Grasshopper.
- Some scripting or coding exposure (Python, C#, JavaScript).
- Mentoring or support experience with junior colleagues.
- Working toward Professional Registration (or regional equivalent).
