Our client is a leading Aberdeen‑based EPC organisation holding long‑term contracts with major owner/operators across upstream oil & gas, downstream refining, and chemical processing. With a strong portfolio spanning FEED, detailed design, operations, and maintenance, they are expanding their process engineering capability within their Aberdeen design office.
We are seeking Senior and Principal Chemical Process Engineers to support a variety of ongoing and upcoming engineering assignments.
Role Overview
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, delivering high‑quality process engineering support across brownfield modifications, optimisation studies, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing detailed process calculations and engineering analyses
- Developing and running process simulations (HYSYS, PRO/II, UniSim, FlareNet, PipeNET or equivalent)
- Supporting flow assurance studies
- Preparing and updating process datasheets, line lists, P&IDs, PFDs, and Hazardous Area Classification drawings
- Producing and maintaining Alarm & Trip Schedules, Cause & Effect diagrams, and control/operating philosophies
- Developing and updating operating procedures and control narratives
- Providing process input to other engineering disciplines
- Supporting process troubleshooting, optimisation, and operational queries
- Liaising with vendors and reviewing technical documentation
- Participating in HAZOP, SIL, and LOPA reviews, including action close‑out
- Ensuring compliance with relevant API/BS/NORSOK standards (as applicable)
About You
Essential Requirements
- UK residency – no visa sponsorship available.
- Ability to work in Aberdeen at least 3 days per week
- Honours degree in Chemical/Process Engineering
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in process design and optimisation within:
- UK oil & gas (upstream or downstream), or
- Refining/chemical manufacturing
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working toward it
- Experience working within an EPC environment
- Familiarity with brownfield modification projects
