Burnside High School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Teacher to join our Learning Support Department, working with students funded through the Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS). This is a full-time, fixed-term position (27 January 2027 to 14 December 2027), supporting high-quality teaching and learning for students with additional learning needs.
The successful applicant will plan and deliver appropriate learning programmes for ORS students, monitor their progress and wellbeing, and work collaboratively with classroom teachers, learning assistants, whānau, and external agencies within the IEP process. You may also teach specialist timetabled classes such as literacy, numeracy, or SPEC modules. A commitment to inclusion and to fostering an equitable learning environment is central to the role.
We are seeking a reflective and student-focused teacher who demonstrates strong organisational skills, sound knowledge across levels 1 to 5 of the New Zealand Curriculum, and the ability to work sensitively and confidentially with young people. The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and whānau is essential, along with a genuine commitment to culturally responsive teaching and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
