Burnside High School is seeking a head of history to lead teaching and learning across the history department.

The head of history is responsible for course design and delivery, the appraisal and attestation of history staff, and the department's resourcing and budget.

You'll work closely with the head of faculty and contribute to the board's long-term planning, including the implementation of Cambridge.

We're looking for an experienced history teacher who can

  • lead a department and maintain a high standard of teaching and learning
  • support students to achieve across NCEA and Cambridge pathways
  • appoint, support and develop staff, and manage the department's resources and budget
  • help create a positive, student-centred learning environment within social sciences.
