A high growth SaaS business is looking for a Head of Infrastructure to lead the next phase of its platform evolution as it scales internationally and launches increasingly mission critical products. This company builds AI powered software that helps large enterprise finance teams automate and strengthen their Accounts Payable controls. Its platform is used to reduce manual work, improve financial accuracy and support intelligent workflows across high volume invoice and payment processes.

Following major recent investment and an ambitious growth phase, they are looking for a senior infrastructure leader who can own platform reliability, scalability, security and cost effectiveness, while helping the business prepare for significant future growth.

The Head of Infrastructure role

Reporting into the VP of Engineering, this is a hands on leadership role with ownership across platform strategy, cloud architecture, operational resilience, developer experience and infrastructure team leadership. You will be responsible for shaping the long term infrastructure roadmap, improving reliability and observability, strengthening incident response and ensuring the platform can support a growing customer base and increasingly critical product suite. This is a role for someone who can identify where things need to improve, make pragmatic proposals and lead the change through to delivery. It combines strategic influence with enough technical depth to stay close to the detail and guide the team credibly.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the long term infrastructure and platform strategy
  • Design and evolve the AWS cloud architecture to support scale, resilience and performance
  • Set standards across infrastructure, CI/CD, environments and observability
  • Lead production reliability, uptime, incident response and post incident reviews
  • Improve monitoring, alerting and on call practices to ensure they are effective and sustainable
  • Partner closely with the Information Security Officer on cloud security, compliance and risk mitigation
  • Own platform level security decisions and support secure by design infrastructure practices
  • Lead and mentor the DevOps team, including DevOps engineers, IT Support and the Information Security Officer
  • Manage the relationship with AWS and other vendors
  • Own cloud cost visibility and optimisation, balancing performance, resilience and cost
  • Improve developer experience by enabling engineers to code, test and deploy efficiently
  • Support engineering teams during design sessions and help them choose the right technical solutions

Requirements

  • Strong background in infrastructure, DevOps engineering or SRE leadership
  • Deep hands on experience with AWS in production environments
  • Experience scaling cloud platforms within a growing SaaS or technology business
  • Strong understanding of reliability, observability and incident management
  • Experience leading, mentoring or developing engineers and technical teams
  • Ability to operate calmly and effectively in production environments under pressure
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence both technically and operationally
  • Experience with Terraform and modern cloud infrastructure practices
  • Exposure to CI/CD tooling, platform standards and developer enablement
  • AWS certification is highly desirable
