Here at Burns Sheehan, we’re working exclusively with a high-growth FinTech company as they look to hire for a brand-new role in their IT Support Function. Currently a team of 4, they support around 650 users but they are looking for a Senior IT Support Engineer to move away from day-to-day support and into a purely engineering and project-focused position.
As the Senior IT Support Engineer you will report directly into the Head of IT with a focus on leading internal projects covering automation, security, networking, and tooling. As the other engineers support BAU across the business, your job would be to help improve on and build the systems that make everything run better long-term.
What You’ll Be Working On
- Taking ownership of engineering projects across automation, security, networking, and fleet management.
- Improving observability across devices and applications.
- Building internal tooling (scripting, APIs, low/no-code) to reduce manual work and spot issues early.
- Supporting major projects around potential Okta rollouts, Cyber Essentials+ preparation, and broader security improvements.
- Working with DevOps teams on infrastructure-related tasks where needed, including exposure to Terraform.
This is a role for someone who’s done strong 2nd/3rd line or internal engineering and now wants to step up into a pure project and automation position.
Must-haves
- Strong experience in Mac environments, with some good Windows exposure.
- Solid networking fundamentals (VLANs, DHCP, firewall rules, WiFi basics).
- Comfortable writing scripts in Python, PowerShell, or Bash, with good API experience.
- Experience in SaaS-led environments (Google Workspace or similar).
- Experience with Terraform OR identity/SSO tools (nice to have).
If you are someone who is curious, pragmatic, and comfortable owning problems end-to-end where you can make a clear difference - this is the role for you. Feel free to apply and we will try to get back to you accordingly.
